From the roar of the baseball diamond to the quiet mountains of Puerto Rico, the story of Café Manolo begins with unexpected passion.
Long before Manolo Rodriguez became a curator of fine coffee, he was a professional baseball player whose career carried him far from home. His travels took him across Mexico and throughout Latin America, where he immersed himself in vibrant markets, bustling kitchens, and bold culinary traditions.
It was there that he discovered something that would change him forever.
Spice.
Not just heat, but complexity. Depth. Character.
From the smoky layers of chipotle to the bright intensity of habanero, each region introduced him to flavors that were fearless and alive. While his days were spent on the field, his nights became a personal exploration of taste, balance, and boldness.
But the true turning point came during a quiet return to Puerto Rico.
Surrounded by the lush central mountains and the rich aroma of locally grown coffee, Manolo saw what others had missed. The island’s volcanic soil and high altitude conditions produced some of the smoothest, most balanced Arabica beans in the world.
In that moment, two passions converged.
What if the bold complexity of global spices could meet the smooth, mountain-grown coffee of his homeland?
From that vision, Café Manolo was born.
Manolo returned to the mountains of Puerto Rico, sourcing only 100 percent premium Arabica beans cultivated in mineral rich volcanic soil at high elevation. Back in his kitchen, he experimented relentlessly to craft a proprietary spice blend designed to complement the coffee’s natural character, never overpower it.
The result is a one of a kind experience.
A brew that carries the strength of the mountains, the depth of tropical soil, and the bold spirit of international discovery.
Café Manolo is more than coffee.
It is heritage.
It is craftsmanship.
It is a journey from the field to the farm.
